Field Sales Representative - Vegan Specialty Cheese - Remote

About the Role:
This is an exciting time to join a leading plant-based brand in the vegan cheese category, with aggressive growth plans for 2021 and beyond! We are looking to hire a Field Sales Representative for Violife. Violife is the fastest growing plant-based cheese since the US launch in 2018. We are looking for someone to really connect the brand to the local community and be a true brand advocate!
As a Field Sales Rep, you will develop and maintain strong customer relationships to maximize Violife opportunities for expanded sales and marketing execution.
You will drive execution and results through strong relationship building at retail and food service accounts in Southern California. You will discover new customers in emerging channels and capture consumer awareness through brand activation.
You will work to cultivate lasting partnerships that bring Violife to life in your city and beyond! You will be assigned critical objectives, such as selling new product, packages and features to restaurants and retail accounts in your market. These programs and initiatives will intrinsically help the overall growth of Violife within California.
What you’ll do:
Cold call both retail and food service accounts in southern California and TBD surrounding geographies, to drive incremental product distribution through new customer acquisitions
Success will be defined by activity and volume based key performance indicators
Discover and capitalize on new opportunities to expand distribution in retail, food services, and partnerships
Increase Violife’s presence in Southern California by partnering with local accounts on brand activation and brand building events
Integrate Violife into your community through social media interaction and local community events such as festivals, farmer’s markets, chef events etc.
Expand sales and volume within existing customer base through strong relationship building
Identify through research and then drive distribution in influential restaurants and specialty retail
Partner with current restaurant customers to drive Violife branding on menu, signage in-store and social media mentions
What you’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
1-2 years of relevant experience (ex. sales, marketing, field marketing & activation)
Prior culinary experience is a preferred
Initiative and self-starter/insurgent mindset
A Passion for food – a passion for Vegan/plant-based food movement
A relentless enthusiasm for retail and high standards of execution
Great interpersonal skills and have a desire for building lasting relationships
Strong communication and presentation skills
Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and PowerPoint and Outlook

Execute segment sales goals and objectives; make geographically based sales calls selling clients items that apply to this segment
Design and implement sales strategies specifically targeted at growing market share for assigned segment
Foster and maintain strong client, customer and distributor relationships; regular communication with key clients
Monitor market intelligence, identify risks/opportunities and recommend solutions to senior management and assigned clients
Conduct business reviews with clients to ensure client needs are met
Collaborate with assigned clients, Client Team and Sales Operations personnel to achieve objectives
Plan sales calls based on quarterly objectives
Report all sales calls in FSP
Participate in food shows, product launches, client and industry meetings and product-oriented trainings when applicable
Respond timely to internal/external questions and information requests
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct reports
- This position does not have guidance or mentoring responsibilities for indirect reports
Travel and/or Driving Requirements
Travel and Driving are essential duties and function of this job
Travel up to 40%
Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job
Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
(Preferred): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Field of Study/Area of Experience:
5+ years of experience in the applicable product category; experience working with brokers and national manufacturers.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships
• Knowledge of foodservice industry and applicable category
• Financial acumen
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
• Good written communication and verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to make oral presentations
• Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines

Field / Administrative Requirements
Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office, field, retail store, or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use products or cook food as appropriate for the demonstration, and may be required to work in extremely cold conditions (i.e. refrigerated and freezer sections). Also required to travel and drive. The use of proper safety practices when handling the products and/or cooking is essential.
