Department Manager

The Department Manager is responsible for planning and managing the sales within a specific department of the business to include working with Business Development Manager and department heads to build promotional programs to increase sales and achieve client quotas and sales goals.

Position Summary

The Department Manager is responsible for planning and managing the sales within a specific department of the business to include working with Business Development Manager and department heads to build promotional programs to increase sales and achieve client quotas and sales goals.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Revenue Budget Achievement

  • Increase sales by working with Business Development Managers and department heads to build promotional programs

  • Achieve department income and expense budgets by implementing marketing strategies and analyzing trends and results

Client Quota Achievement

  • Achieve 100% of wholesale distribution by maintaining and growing account distribution

  • Meet or exceed Clients’ goals for sales, distribution, pricing, shelving, and promotional volume

Client KPI Achievement

  • Achieve sales goals by managing and maximizing manufacturing funds

  • Monitor all retail pricing and indirect order guides within the division

  • Secure Client approved schematics for all brands by providing direction and communication to our schematic, reset, and retail departments

Existing SKU Achievement

  • Achieve SKU standards by ensuring full distribution of all new products and maintenance of existing lines

Deductions

  • Meet budgetary goals by maintaining strict control and accounting of all accrual and bill-back funds within the division

Business/Category Reviews

  • Demonstrate sales accomplishments and areas of opportunity by developing sales presentations for key Customers and Clients

  • Sell business-building ideas to clients and customers through the use of syndicated data

Forecast Planning Achievement

  • Achieve incremental growth by pursuing volume-producing merchandising at key accounts

Department Business Management

  • Communicate Client goals, programs, price changes, and priorities by preparing and distributing retail selling tools

  • Support all Client and Customer activities within the division by providing backup in the absence of the Division Vice President

  • Contribute to aggressive sales for entire division

  • Ensure that all correspondence and claims are promptly handled by working effectively with Business Managers and Administrative Sales Assistants

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

  • Travel and Driving are essential duties and function of this job

  • Travel up to 40%

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree o r equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in applicable field

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
